About Captain's Orders
Introduction
Hi, I'm Debbie - Dog Trainer and Canine Behaviour Therapist, and the founder of Captain's Orders Dog Training.
Captain's Orders was established in 2021 and has since supported hundreds of dogs and their owners across a wide range of breeds, ages, and behavioural challenges.
I am proud to have been voted Best Dog Trainer in the local area for three consecutive years, and I am committed to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards in my work.
My approach is structured, prevention focused, and grounded in behavioural understanding - not quick fixes or gimmicks.
Captain & Sarge
I share my life with two German Shepherds, Captain and Sarge.
Captain was the inspiration behind Captain's Orders. From the day I brought him home at eight weeks old, his training became a daily priority. He went on to earn Champion Trick Dog status and holds a Gold Award in the Canine Good Citizen Scheme. He has trained in flyball, agility, and mantrailing, and continues to push me to refine my skills and raise my standards as both a handler and trainer.
Captain also took part in the Genius Dog Challenge run by Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, where his ability to learn and retrieve toys by name was assessed as exceptional. He can accurately retrieve over 80 named toys and continues to participate in cognitive research studies.
Sarge is equally driven and intelligent, and complements mine and Captain's bond beautifully. Living and working with two high energy working line dogs reinforces daily why structure, clarity, and consistency matter.
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
I have studied, hold qualifications and professional memberships with recognised canine education bodies including:
- APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers)
- ISCP (International School of Canine Principles)
- BCCS (British College of Canine Studies)
- IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Training)
As a proud member of APDT, I am committed to ongoing education, ethical training practices, and maintaining high professional standards.

My Approach
Your dog's welfare is my priority.
I do not use punitive or aversive techniques such as prong collars, shock collars or intimidation-based methods. Training is built on clarity, consistency, reinforcement and fair structure.
Good training should create confidence, not fear.
